There seems to be some confusion about what we have to offer at the Loss Prevention Academy for training.  It has never been in our mind, however I just wanted to re-state it in hopes of clearing up any confusion.

Various industries offer a certification program that is recognized by that industry.  For Loss Prevention, that would be the LP Foundation.  They offer two levels of courses.  For those looking to be “certified” please visit their site for details.

Our approach is to not offer a certification program.  We view our training as “vocational” style training that were written by industry experts with over 100 years of experience.  In addition, our first 3 courses are what we call “position based” in that, they were written for 3 positions in a retail environment.  LP for Employees is a short two hour course aimed at hourly employees, LP Detective is for the entry level position in LP and LP for Managers is for the individual who is in LP and wants to move up or for a store or asst. manager.  After those 3 courses, we offer Safety for Retail and also a 10 hour course on interviewing and interrogation skills written by the Wicklander-Zulawski (WZ) group.  None of the 5 courses were designed for “certifying” anyone.

We are very pleased to offer these courses and strive to offer quality training at an affordable price.  In addition to offering the courses separately, we offer 4 courses together at a discount via the LP “Master” course.  That course is LP Detective, LP for Managers, Safety for Retail and the WZ Investigative Interviewing course.  As a group, this course is 300.00 off the regular price compared to their individual prices.

Each course has a final exam after the completion.  When an individual passes with a score of 90% or better, the Loss Prevention Academy’s site allows the person to print a certificate of completion immediately.  No delay in mailings.
